Tang Qishan, a contemporary Chinese painter and calligrapher, holds a Master’s degree in Cultural and Arts Management from a Swiss business school and has served as a visiting scholar at the China National Academy of Painting. He is a council member of the Shenzhen Art Industry Promotion Association, founder and art director of Purentang Culture, a deeply collaborating artist with the Guangzhou Art Fair, a recommended artist of PRENTA, and a member of the Hunan Calligraphers Association.Tang has held solo exhibitions at venues such as the Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou Nanfung International Convention and Exhibition Center, and Qidong Vocational Secondary School. His works are included in the collections of institutions including the Tibet Armed Police Force, Guangdong Museum of Art, Gansu Bamboo Slips Museum, the Russia-China Chamber of Commerce, and Moscow Omega-L. Under the guidance of Mr. Wang Yong from the Chinese National Academy of Arts, Tang systematically studied Eastern and Western art theory. He also trained in calligraphy under Mr. Liu Xiaobin, council member of the China Calligraphers Association. In addition to his artistic practice, he is actively involved in charitable initiatives and has been repeatedly honored with the title of “Outstanding Volunteer.”Tang Qishan’s artistic practice is groundbreaking. He skillfully integrates modern composition with Eastern aesthetics, forming a distinctive artistic vocabulary. His notable series include Forest Memory, Water Lilies, White Cranes, Oracle Bone Script · Symbols, Inheritance · Symbols, Origin · Beings, and Lyrical Charm · Spiritual Delight. His creative process resembles a dialogue spanning three millennia. Drawing from elements such as oracle bone script and ancient totems, he deconstructs and reassembles them into visual symbols that embody both archaic mystery and contemporary tension. Through this approach, he interprets profound reflections on “form and meaning” and “ancient and modern,” demonstrating the enduring charm of artistic evolution.Tang’s artistic journey represents a profound exploration across cultures and regions. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, including Russia, France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar. During these journeys, he not only studied canonical traditional paintings and sculptures in institutions like the Louvre but also closely engaged with local contemporary art scenes. This immersion in diverse cultural contexts has infused his work with rich inspiration and a unique perspective. Moreover, he actively participates in international art exhibitions and exchange programs, continually broadening his artistic horizons through interactions with global artists and further enriching his creative language. These extensive experiences have shaped Tang Qishan’s distinctive artistic style—one that preserves the essence of traditional art while incorporating innovative contemporary concepts, showcasing his exceptional talent in the field of mixed-media painting.Through his art, we witness not only an artist’s pursuit of beauty but also a deep, cross-cultural understanding of the very nature of artistic expression.
